Who Is Tim Odofin?
Hi there, it’s great to meet you!
I’m an African British voiceover based in London and Kent (which is known as the garden of England), and probably one of the reasons that I hate hay fever season.
But let’s kick things off by talking about the things I love like…voiceover. No surprise there! (Editor’s note: VO is superb but football, ice cream and fried chicken are also very important to me.)
I’m one of the most well known black British voiceovers around, and while it’s more than likely you’ve never “heard of” me before, you’ve almost certainly “heard” me.
I’m pretty much in the background of your entire life whenever you’re listening to the radio, watching your TV, catching the ads in the cinema, being told about the latest bargains in your supermarket, getting updated about new procedures at work or just surfing the web.
A Voice That Connects!
Now you can finally put a face to that familiar voice.
As you can see, I love to work in as many areas of voiceover as possible… though trust me, I’m not being greedy!
My African British voice and my adaptable work style simply gives me a huge offering to all of my clients.
My clients love that I can be their voice far and wide, with my accent and multilingual skills allowing me to broadcast not just in Britain, but across North, East and West Africa, the Caribbean, America, Australia and Canada; just to name a few!
I’m current, conversational and completely natural which allows me to connect with just about anyone. And I offer you great service with a speedy turnaround time which is absolute gold in voiceover land.
But why should you care about all that? Well, I guess it means someone somewhere thinks I’m pretty good. They’ve even given me awards for it. I think I’m good too, but you be the judge!
And Now For My Story... So Far!
Sometimes in life, to truly understand someone, you have to be able to trace the genesis
So this whole voiceover thing really started when I was front and centre on the stage for my school play. Up there, it’s all about public speaking, voice projection and connecting with lots of people… you can see where this is all adds up!
Up there, I saw that I had the ability to make people sit up and listen so I’ve pretty much just followed on with that all along.
My public speaking continued into big school as head of the debating and drama society. And this only continued as I left Uni and spent a few years across various islands hosting all manner of events.
On returning to the UK a friend asked me to host his wedding reception and there began my life as a Master of Ceremonies, which I still do to this day.
It wasn’t long before TV came calling and this led to radio, which was a natural fit into voiceover. From there radio has led into just about every other kind of way there is to share a voice!
Corporate narrations, online e-learning, public promo announcements, animations, video games and even the Voice of God. Now I’m not saying I’m literally the voice of god (although I do a lot of work for religious organisations), but I’m not that good yet!
Nooooo, just in case you’re not familiar with what that is, just cast your mind back to the last time you went to any large event and heard announcements done over the tannoy system. It’s basically a master of ceremonies on a grand scale, so as you can see, the genesis of that school stage explains everything about where I am today.
It’s always been a life behind the mic for me, it’s as natural as anything.
But that’s only my story so far. I have a lot more adventures to embark on, so many voiceover styles to master and an infinite number of stories to bring to life.
